I never really had a big brother but Stan played that role in my life. He was the star swimmer for my Dad's Whittier High School swim team and I tried to follow in his foot steps. He provide both an example and encouragement...he helped me understand what was possible. Not only was this the case in the pool but also as a student. Five team mates from our CIF Championship water polo team followed him to Cal where we carried on the Whittier tradition by winning championships for CAL.
He treated my Mom and Dad like part of his family. When my Dad retired as Superintendent of Schools, Stan hired him to be the resident manager of Kwajalein Atoll in the South Pacific where both my Dad and Mom were able to achieve long held dreams. Dad learning scuba diving to go with his skills as a free diver...which were also developed with Stan at his side... and diving on the sunken Japanese ships. And my Mom became a sought after portrait painter for the residents...including the King.
Stan, rest easy. We have been blessed to have you in our lives and will continue to remember and be guided by your positive attitude in everything you did. Thanks, Chuck.
